The tour will start in the medieval neighbourhood of El Born, where you guide will tell you all you need to know about Catalonia’s buried history and unique culture, before continuing along the portside and past the statue of Christopher Columbus at the feet of the Rambla.
The tour will then wend its way up the serpentine paths of Europe’s biggest Cactus Garden before reaching the hotel Miramar, where you will be able to take in some of the greatest views the city has to offer. In the shadow of the Castell de Montjuïc, the ‘Bastille of Barcelona’, you’ll begin the long descent down the mountainside, passing both the Fundació Joan Miró and the iconic Estadi Lluís Companys, cynosure of the 1992 Olympic Games. By the time the sun reaches the crest of the sierra of Collserola, you’ll have arrived at the National Palace, jewel of the 1929 Universal Exhibition, and will be able to watch the sunset in all its radiant glory.
As you begin the journey back, you’ll see just how the city changes complexion as the evening wanes and the night falls. You’ll follow the mellow streetlights through the avenues of Poble Sec, the leafy footpaths of Sant Antoni and narrow streets of Raval before heading down the Rambla to finally arrive back in the medieval squares of El Born.
