The wine tastes best in a real, authentic wineyard. That’s why we will take you biking outside of the city-life, 15 kilometers away from Barcelona. You will get clearer picture of the Catalunia region as we travel through the refreshing sea, going past the small towns and take a break at the Boquet d’Alella, where you will be able to calm down, enjoy the fresh mediterrian breeze with vineyards all around you! And don’t forget the most important part, the best wine the region has for you!

Overview

This tour will take you beyond the bustle of the city out into the real Catalonia.

Beginning in the neighbourhood of El Born on the edge of the medieval city, this tour will make its way north into the foothills of the Serralada Litoral.
As you leave the city, you’ll pass by the imposing Ximeneies de Sant Adrià, some of the last remnants of awesome industrial capacity that earned Barcelona the epithet of
the ‘Manchester of Spain’. You’ll continue up the coast, all the time hugging the tranquil, undulating Mediterranean, and pass through the seaside towns Badalona,
Montgat and Masnou. From there, you’ll take sharp turn inland and begin to make your way uphill.

As you near Alella, you’ll begin to see some the majestic buildings that once belonged to those Catalans who made their fortunes in the Americas. Once in the town, you’ll
begin to wind your way through the narrow streets towards Bouquet d’Alella, the smallest vinyards to be awarded a Denomination of Origin (D.O) in Spain. There, you’ll
get to sample some of the best wines the region has to offer.

After this well needed repast, you jump back on your eBikes once again to make your way back to the metropolis. By the time you’re back, you’ll have come to realise that
the richness Barcelona has to offer is not to be found only in the urban area but also outside in the surrounding towns.

The meeting point is our bike shop at 16 Sant Agustí Vell in the heart of the bohemian neighbourhood of El Born. Remember, that is Sant Agustí Vellin a city as old as Barcelona, there’s two of everything, so make sure you get the right one so that you don’t miss the start.

Your guide will begin check-in fifteen minutes before the tour is due to begin. Try to get there bit before your tours starts, especially if you know you will want a helmet. That way we can try out different sizes and still start promptly.

It’s easy to get lost in the streets of the old town, even if you’ve lived here for years! If you think you’re lost or know that you’re going to arrive a little late, try to let us know as soon as possible. If you call our offices, somebody will be on hand to advise or provide you with directions. If your group has already left, they may even be able to take you to catch up with them. However, it is always best to arrive as punctually as possible in order to avoid any disappointment, so plan your route accordingly or familiarise yourself with the neighbourhood beforehand.

Come rain or shine, Barcelona eBikes Tours hits the roads. Luckily, Barcelona enjoys about 300 days of sun a year, so you’re not likely get caught in the rain. However, in the unlikely event that your stay in the city coincides with a wet spell, you will have to come prepared as we are not able to provide ponchos or rain-macs for everyone.

Helmets are a legal requirement for all riders under 16 years of age. For anybody over 16, helmets are not obligatory but recommendable, especially if you’re not a confident cyclist. Barcelona is a safe, relaxing city for cyclists but the important thing is that you feel comfortable so you can be free to enjoy what the city has to offer.

Barcelona is a very safe city for cyclists of all ages and abilities. The established routes have been planned with safety in mind and are either equipped with cycle-lanes or have been fully pedestrianised. What is more, almost all crossings will take place at traffic lights and our guides know all the safest routes. However, as always, you will need to use your common sense and pay attention to the vehicles around you.

You don’t need to bring much with you to be able to enjoy a bike tour around this vibrant, unique city. Come with clothing and footwear that is appropriate for safely riding a bike. In the summer, you should consider bringing a hat and sunglasses, while in the winter there can be a chill wind, so it is best to bring a jacket or a spare jumper. And as with all bikes, there’s always a risk of oil – so avoid wearing your best whites! During the hottest months, you should also keep sun-cream and an extra bottle of water with you at all times.

The tour will last approximately 3 hours (1100-1400). However, this can vary according to start time, group size, and the ever-present risk of flat tyres. We therefore give ourselves a grace period of about half an hour. Except in rare circumstances, tours are almost always finished by about 1430. If you have other commitments before this time, please let your guide know so that they can make any necessary changes to the itinerary.

If you can ride a regular bike, you can ride an e-bike! The e-bikes are intuitive and incredibly easy to use. Your guide will explain everything you need to know in the pre-tour briefing and you’ll have the chance to ask questions if you still have any doubts.
